Now that gasoline has reached $3.87/gal in the Asheville area I'm looking for a scooter. The local RV Park has one for sale that seems to be just what I need. However, this may cause people to think I'm an alcoholic. You see, most 200+ lb. geezers like me who drive Mo-Peds and 49cc scooters have had their driver's licenses revoked for multiple D.U.I.s . I frequently literally almost run into these guys at 5 am while they're driving on the dark curvy mountain roads at 23 mph. The engine is screaming like a swarm of bees, the guy's butt is hanging over the seat, his mullet blowing in the frosty morning air. It is like a Scarlet Letter that says to all "I can't get a license or insurance." Now with gas reaching $4.00/gal it will be hard to tell the difference between the alcoholics on their Liquor Cycles and CB's on their Mo-Peds.

Um, I might be missing the point, but gas is already $4.03 here...
The point is in spite of government "life will find a way". Liquor Cycle's (proun. "licker-sickle") allow hard working alcoholics to get to their jobs and continue to pay taxes. Now if a few become road-kill under the wheels of a semi, it's no great loss. However, the fact that people with clean driving records and insurance are buying up these Kamikaze two-wheelers is a reflection of the high fuel prices.
The price of gas has increased 40% and people have decreased their driving 2%. Until these numbers get closer, gasoline
will continue to go up.
California leads the nation again. Lately they have been in the headlines with a regular parade of Biblical plagues. You have fire, hail, earthquakes, tornadoes and floods. God's judgment on your Gay Marriage Gov.
How could California be so *jacked*?(That's rhetorical...)
We've got tree-huggers in the north and Hollywood types in the South. But, there are alot of conservative-types in the state, just not enough to make our state the right color (would that be red or blue? I always forget that)
I still vote in my little conservative way and say to myself, "There, I hope it makes a difference" -- and I haven't seen it in CA yet:-(
That last paragraph looks very grim for our state...I think you charged us with one too many, though: I didn't read about any tornado here!! Are you mixing us up with Oklahoma?
I don't understand why you don't need a driver's license in N.C. to drive a licker-sickle. It's still a motorized vehicle, right?
Then again, here in sunny SoCal, you can see cops on the street giving tickets to 12 year olds on bicycles! I kid you not.
Less than 5o cc's no license or insurance needed. People have to get to work you know! BBBBZZZZZZZZZZ!!
It's cheaper than rehab.
giggling from the beginning of this blog to the end of the comments.
NYS gas is now $4.09 here.
HA HA HA. hilarious!
