Carol is pointing to the deck that used to be the floor of the Colosseo. All that stuff underneath is where the Lions, Tigers and Bears were kept. By Carol's left ear is a ten foot cross that was placed on the spot where the Emperor sat. Pope John Paul II had the cross placed there, and every Good Friday His Holiness lead the College of Cardinals into the Colosseo to offer prayers for the Christian martyrs that died in the arena!Thursday, May 12, 2011
